Epilepsy

I have had epilepsy since the age of 6 (rather a lot of years ago!) and have found that the way to deal with it is to take your medication on time, NEVER sink into self-pity, and to get on with life. Obviously, you have to be aware of situations not to get into (for me, it's discos/clubs with flashing lights), but for the most part it is much better to ignore the whole thing, otherwise you end up limiting yourself and not being able to do anything at all. Doubtless there are those who would disagree with this attitude - I'm just saying what works for *me*.
Epilepsy Action (formerly The British Epilepsy Association)'s website can be reached by clicking here, where you can find further information on epilepsy.
Below I have included links to an essay I wrote when qualifying as an aromatherapist.

Aromatherapy and Epilepsy

ABSTRACT

Epilepsy has long been treated with chemical medication; the promise of help from a totally different quarter is both exciting and fascinating. Essential oils - massage - aromatherapy: what nicer and better way to introduce control into a life which had previously been fettered by chemicals?!
This essay introduces the reader to the techniques involved and some of the more popular oils used. It has been written from the viewpoint of an aromatherapist suffering from epilepsy, and includes some suggestions of other oils that might be helpful. Also included are ideas for methods of applications of the chosen oil(s).
